This course builds on the fundamentals of AR-15 handling and introduces students to more advanced skills that integrate both rifle and pistol work. Participants will learn how to perform safe and efficient rifle reloads, including both tactical and emergency techniques, and will practice transitioning smoothly from rifle to pistol in the event of a malfunction or empty weapon. Emphasis is placed on maintaining strict muzzle awareness and trigger discipline during multi-weapon handling, as well as engaging targets accurately while on the move. Students will also learn how to integrate their battle belt setup into live-fire drills to improve efficiency and effectiveness. By the end of this class, participants will have developed the confidence and ability to manage their equipment and firearms in a dynamic training environment.
Required Equipment
AR-15 rifle with sling
Outside-the-waistband (OWB) pistol holster (Kydex or other rigid material)
Semi-automatic pistol in good working order
Battle belt with rifle and pistol magazine pouches
Minimum 2 AR-15 magazines and 2 pistol magazines
100–150 rounds rifle ammunition & 50–75 rounds pistol ammunition
Eye and ear protection
Weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear

Eye protection (ANSI Z87.1-rated or better)
Ear protection (electronic ear muffs recommended)
An AR-15 rifle in good working condition
At least two magazines (preferably 20 or 30 rounds)
A sturdy two-point or single-point sling (adjusted to fit comfortably for transitions)
200 rounds of range-appropriate ammunition
A hard or soft case for transporting your unloaded firearm
Cleaning kit or basic maintenance tools (optional but recommended in case of malfunctions)
Note: Ensure your AR-15 is unloaded and securely stored in a case when attending the session.
